I found some of those storage sites and checked a few out. Seems they limit space to 300 MB or so, typically.
That much is free, and I haven't found any that offer more space for a price, except one that offered 500 MB for a yearly fee of $299. Maybe I'll look a little harder, as your idea does seem to be the simplest of those suggested. If you are into Napster, you know that a few hundred songs can get you quickly up to 1000 MB.

I'm glad I asked my question here, as there are so many helpful folks who respond. Wouldn't you think, though, that this is something that everybody would want to do when they upgrade to a new computer? And that by now someone or someplace would have made it easier just to transfer your old hard drive to your new box?

But if you guys don't know about it, then I have to believe no one really has done that.
