PCCW, PNM Solutions Develop Mobile Business Application Steven Schwankert Managing Editor, asia.internet.com [January 15] PCCW Mobility Services and PNM Solutions Monday announced the joint development of Mobile Sales, a service allowing a company's field staff to access to their corporate database through a mobile device. Mobile Sales is offered on PCCW Mobility Services' GPRS network, and was developed by PNM Solutions, using technology, applications and services from Sun Microsystems, Oracle, BEA Systems, and iLink.net, PCCW and PNM Solutions said in a joint statement. PCCW Mobility Services launched Hong Kong's first commercial GPRS in November 2000. GPRS can support high-speed data-transmission rates of up to 107 kbps. PNM Solutions designed its Mobile Sales application specifically for use on mobile handheld devices such as wireless application protocol (WAP) phones, GPRS phones and personal digital assistants, supporting both English and Chinese, the statement said. asia.internet.com
