Specifically, Hitachi was producing the so-called "Super-H" chipset used by the Sega Dreamcast game console. The Dreamcast sold fairly well in that period. Presumably Hitachi was paying at least 3% and possibly more on these devices.

This is the kind of stuff that makes this thread such a fun place to hang out. The SH-4 integrated microprocessor used in Dreamcast is not a chipset. And anyone who thinks that the programmable delay register interfaced by SH-4 is worth 3% or 0.3% or even 0.03% of the value of that chip is severely lacking in understanding.

At least the fool realized that Rambus isn't getting the revenue stream which he and many on this thread have been deluding themselves about for so long.
