They wanted to stop but got pressured from other dumb democrats and then the brain dead Florida Supreme Court had to step in.

And I suppose the Republican mob banging on the doors was not exerting any pressure whatsoever?

Look, Tom, anytime there is a contested election feelings are bound to be running high. But the Republican machine began complaining in lockstep about "inventing votes" and "chaos" before any recount even began; the Republican spin was that no reasonable person had ever heard of a manual recount before Al Gore invented it and it couldn't possibly be done properly.

That's just not true and everybody who knows anything about politics knows it's not true. It's just what happens when the local political machine knows that its guy's only chance of winning is to keep any recount from happening.

If the Democrats were trying to pull a fast one where were the local officials saying, 'we're going to do this thing right and be fair to both sides and count as carefully as possible'? No, it was all, 'we trust machines! we don't trust people! manual recounts are impossible!'

The rest of the world just laughed at us and said 'we always knew this stuff went on in our elections but we thought they did it better in America'
