The post from the zoo states that emc and cpq have about the same market share in the storage sector. Assuming that emc is 100% storage (I really don't know if they're into anything else) then emc's total revenues would approximate cpq's storage revenues. EMC's revenues are about 8.127 billion. However, I am quite certain that cpq doesn't generate 8 billion which would equate to about 20% of its sales, from storage. Therefore, either (i) emc has other business outside of the 17%+ market share in storage or (ii) cpq's market share in storage is well below what the poster on the zoo stated. Does that makes sense or am I missing a lot?
