Globalstar Coverage map enters the new millenium.

Notwithstanding MLK day, and that the title of the map still reads Globalstar Service Rollout 2000

globalstar.com

has in fact been changed today. Three new countries turn Green, (Antigua & Barbuda, Columbia and Uraguay) bringing the total to 54 "as of January 1st" (sic).

Several other changes bring the usual mixed bag of good and bad news.

Good News: Egypt, Tunisia, NW Brasil and Bolivia shift from "by June 30" to "by April 1;" S. Greenland is shown as having "extended coverage" and Western Sahara is now marked green (though neither make the list of 54)

Bad News: Every country in Europe that had been marked "by January 1", is now marked "by April 1" except Ireland (!) which is now marked "by July 1"

No News: Gateways and coverage for Globalstar Middle East, Southern and Eastern China, and Senegal remain AWOL.
