I think I got hooked on football watching the 58 title game between the Giants and the Baltimore Colts. They were tied 17-17 and went into overtime. Unitas,my vote for best QB) took the Colts 80 yards on THE DRIVE. Ameche scored from the goal line about 8 minutes into the game. I can not remember the QB of the Giants. Pat Summerall played for the giants. Tough guys,I remember watching Y.A Tittle and him standing on the side lines and he took his helmet off and the blood was just running down his face. No one paid any attention. Butkus was about the meanest middle linebacker, there might be better players like Taylor at linebacker, no one was meaner. Nitkse of the Packer years was pretty good. I got to see Hugh Mcelhenny in 61 an exhibition game 49s vs. the vikings at Husky Stadium. Mcelhenny had graduated from the UDub and was winding down his carrier so it was like the last game for "The King". The 49s started a drive and Mcelhenny got the ball about seven times in a row. Some of those runs he must of run 60 to gain ten. Starting and stopping ,stiff-arming ,cutting back. The crowd was going nuts. He ran a lot like Payton. I loved those early Packers, the Ice bowl in 67 was pretty good. I like the Snake, Stabler. I remember Broadway Joe. My dad couldn't stand him because of his mouth, haircut and his fur coat. I thought he was great. maybe the start of my rebellious years. Stop me I am talking and cannot stop.
