yes.... if one is to be religious about something is the healthy practice of back up all, often and keep them safe, in fact with the lap top (although expensive), a second hard drive is NOT a bad idea.

i do have a cd burner on my regular pc but i admit to never even bother to learn how to use it. i guess your suggestion here is excellent. i will look into it.

in the new lap top i have a zip drive (in the floppy drive slot) this is quite handy for the most needed and used files.

as for dropping it ? hmmm no i treat it like my..... you know what i mean.
