As a biologist, Dawkins should be well aware that religious belief, or belief of any sort, is as much as anything else, a biological process: at the very least, it physically resides within the neurons, axons, and synapses of the human brain and nervous system. Certainly it is reasonable to expect that the neural "configuration" of a religious belief is different from the neural "configuration" of a political belief, and would prompt a slightly different different set of behavorial responses.
