Generally, before the Ching Dynasty, there was a Ming Dynasty and Tong Dynasty, which were governed by the Han or the actual Chinese. People praised the emperors at that time because there was few corruption by the officials. But when the Ching Dynasty came in, so many Han or Chinese fleed from the mainland and into Taiwan. Some of them even organized militants to fight against the Ching. There was a well-known slogan by the Han ..."Revive the Ming and revolt against the Ching".

They are just follow the same written Chinese characters, but just pronounce a little differently.

Mandarin ... very popularly spoken by Mainlanders and Taiwanese.
