If you have any laptops and want wireless connectivity, you may want to consider this unit (sells for around $300-$350)-
smc.com

It combines a 10/100 Mb switch (3 ports)+ 1 port for the broadband modem as well as a firewall, print server, DHCP server, NAT etc. Best of all, it also serves as a WAP (wireless access point) meaning you can buy wireless PCMCIA network cards for you laptops (around $150) and can then surf the net on the laptops at high speed from anywhere in the house - even the patio! The wireless speed is 11Mbps but you won't get that. What you get will depend on where you are in relation to the router.

And yes, it is quiet, very quiet.
