motion control is one of my favorite sectors...here is release today on cmxx/siemens...trading around 2 3/8:

(PR Wires) PRW: U.S. Motion Control Leader Cimetrix Scores Major Win at Si
PRW: U.S. Motion Control Leader Cimetrix Scores Major Win at Siemens; CODE
Software Selected for Siemens' Next-Generation High-Speed Placement Machines

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 2001--Cimetrix Inc. (OTC:CMXX), a
leading U.S. supplier of advanced motion control and communication
technology for the worldwide robotics, SMT, semiconductor manufacturing,
packaging and assembly markets scored a major success today.
The company announced that it has been selected by Siemens' Electronic
Assembly Systems division to supply its motion control software products for
use with Siemens' next-generation of SIPLACE(TM) electronics assembly
equipment.
According to Bob Reback, executive vice president of sales for Cimetrix,
"This contract further reinforces Cimetrix's rapidly growing presence within
the worldwide robotics and electronics assembly community where its advanced
motion control technology for use in high-speed production, electronic
assembly and printed circuit board manufacturing continues to gain
acceptance."
This is a breakthrough for Cimetrix and will offer Siemens major benefits
over traditional technology. According to sources, the new CODE(TM) solution
will enable Siemens to achieve greater productivity, design efficiency and
significant improvements in software quality for its next-generation,
high-speed placement machine.
"These are huge challenges for many of our customers, and we are
particularly pleased with this result because Siemens has done the most
complete and thorough analysis of our CODE software of any customer to
date," commented Reback.
Siemens is a market leader in electronic assembly equipment used to
manufacture printed circuit boards. It manufactures a broad line of assembly
equipment that is used by major electronics companies throughout the world.
Siemens and Cimetrix have been working closely together to evaluate, test,
and integrate CODE software for use with Siemens' future placement
equipment.
"Although the evaluation took considerable time, it allowed the Siemens
engineering team to clearly quantify the benefits and develop a
comprehensive plan to migrate our technology into their product line. We are
currently deep into the implementation phase and the results are very
pleasing for both parties," noted Reback.
The Cimetrix CODE software provides machine modeling, motion planning, and
kinematic solutions for Siemens. According to Dr. Gerhard Haas, project
manager of system architecture for Siemens and the man who led the team of
engineers who did the analysis of CODE, "The Cimetrix CODE software gives us
three important benefits that allow us to improve our design efficiency.
"First, by integrating simulation into our software application development,
we reduce time-to-market for new machines. In addition, with CODE software,
more thorough testing can be accomplished with less effort resulting in
better software quality. Finally, we also gain more time to focus our
development effort on expanding customer features that improve our
customer's productivity."
The Cimetrix CODE software product family consists of CIMulation(TM) for
application development, debug, and maintenance. CIMulation enables
customers to build a 3D simulation model of their machine, develop specific
application software, and test the system in simulation mode. This can be
done in parallel to designing the machine hardware and can help to verify
customer requirements.
The family of products also includes CIMControl(TM) used for machine
operation. CIMControl is used to deploy this same machine model and
application software in the field. By using this concurrent engineering
approach, Cimetrix customers have demonstrated reductions in overall
time-to-market for new machines by up to 50 percent.
Cimetrix is a publicly traded software products company that designs,
markets and sells PC-based open architecture machine control and equipment
communications software products to the factory automation industry.
Cimetrix is building alliances with industry leaders in the fields of
semiconductor, SMT (Surface Mount Technology), electronics assembly,
robotics, packaging, machine tools, and custom mechanisms.
Cimetrix recently launched its semiconductor division to provide solutions
for GEM/SECS protocols and the new SEMI 300mm standards. To find out more
