AT&T was publicly criticized as an "unfair" monopoly and in 1984 was forced by government to spin off its valuable RBOC's. In 1997 AT&T will again face harsh public criticism for acting in their best interest as they try to successfully compete in today's deregulated and far more global environment. I wish somebody could tell me just what is inherently fair about a local phone market where AT&T must first buy and then resell local service from their competion, which happens to be the same RBOC they spun off?
