About Whistler:

Whistler, like Windows 2000, is going to be vastly incompatible with existing software and peripherals. I predict that it will do even worse than Win2K. Why? It will sell slowly to corporations for the same reasons that Win2K does. But it's also targeted toward consumers, who are less likely than corporations to have the IT departments and network administration staff required to keep Win2K up and running.

I think that when Whistler comes out, you'll start to see more consumers migrate to Mac OS X, and more corporations to Linux and Mac OS X. And when .NET comes out, and Microsoft finally fulfills its destiny by charging rental fees for its stagnant software, the Windows exodus will become a stampede for the doors.
