Iridium's promising 10 kBps - last I read, Globalstar is promising 9.6 kBps. Horribly slow to those of us who are used to broadband. For mobile satellite data service that can also give you voice, Inmarsat can give you 64 kBps but the equipment is unwieldy. Orbcomm can give you 56 kBps over a smaller receiver but not voice.

For fixed satellite broadband, a number of different companies are providing in the range of 10 mBps.
