Could be continued upside on our Medical Outpatient / Home Care sector as well as Med Pdcts and Pharmaceuticals.

Quest Diagnostics (DGX) revised its earnings estimate upward for the year ending Dec. 31, 2001, and said it will meet analysts’ expectations for the 2000 fourth quarter. The diagnostic testing company said it will report fourth-quarter earnings between 57 and 59 cents a share. The company will also take a $155 million charge, resulting in an extraordinary loss of 6 cents a share associated with the write-off. For 2001, the company expects earnings between $3.10 and $3.20 a share. Analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial expect earnings of $2.97 a share. The improvement is due to favorable industry trends and the 1999 acquisition of SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories. Shares gained 19 cents to close at $103.25.
