The Intel earnings as viewed by Briefing...

(my emphasis)
Intel (INTC) 31 3/8 -3/4: -- Update -- Despite guiding down Q1 revenue numbers, Intel sees capex rising to $7.5 bln in 2001 from $6.7 bln in 2000, much stronger than the market had expected. Intel says that despite near-term uncertainty, it will use its financial strength to invest for the future. News is benefitting semi cap equipment names such as Applied (AMAT), Novellus (NVLS), and KLA-Tencor (KLAC) [and Kulicke and Soffa (KLIC)], all of which are traded up 2-3 points after hours.
