Dear Nadine: Well, one thing I bet we BOTH agree on the law needs to be rewritten to make it ABSOLUTELY CLEAR just what the State Legislature intended. Personally, I lean to the camp that trusts properly operating machine counts over manual counts. But regardless law needs to made clearer and hopefully we will get rid of these punch card machines. According to local press we will attempt to switch to the rest of the states type machines (Optical Scanning I believe they are called) but someday hope to spend over 200 million statewide on going with those computer screen things talked about. At least with the Optical scanner as I understand it we get the results almost instantaneously after the polls close. JDN
