Baby reality TV show
'planned'

Big Brother helped spark a global wave of reality TV
shows
The creators of the reality TV phenomenon Big
Brother are considering a new TV show in
which unmarried women choose between
potential sperm donors.

Netherlands-based Endemol productions are in
discussions about the new programme,
believed to have the working title I Want Your
Baby, which is still at the planning stage.

A spokeswoman for the
company's UK office
told BBC News Online:
"It is just a discussion
- there's no format."

Big Brother, in which 10
contestants were
forced to live together
in an isolated house
under the gaze of TV
cameras, helped spark
a global wave of reality
TV programmes.

'Hundreds of ideas'

Since then, programmes such as Survivor, Jail
Break, The Mole, Castaway, Temptation Island
and Hands On a Truck have pushed the
boundaries of the genre.

An Endemol spokesman said: "There are
hundreds of ideas. We aim to produce shows
which people talk about, but we don't wish to
harm anyone and with a subject like this you
have to be careful.

"It certainly wouldn't take the form of a quiz
show or anything like that."

One report said the new programme would
involve a woman in her 40s choosing between
men willing to donate sperm so she could
conceive through artificial insemination.
