Why does he have to have a farewell speech; no other president has.
Not being in the limelight anymore is going to be a tough pill to swallow for him. This will undoubtably be a speech where he "reminds" us of all the great things he did for us (ahem) the last 8 years. Because once he's out of office, I think there will be a lot of behind-the-scenes funny business uncovered that none of us knew about, and Janet Reno won't be around to "look the other way" when it does. His only hope of not going to jail or being reviled as a traitor is to keep the masses rallied behind him, making any indictment of him a dicey political proposition. Simular to the way his crew made Joe Sixpack believe that lying under oath was "just about sex."
Of course, if you have any hopes of finding out about the stuff being uncovered, you'll have to tune into Fox News Channel, since CNN, CNBC, etc. won't air anything on it, at least not without putting their own spin on it. In fact, they're already spinning ahead of the curve--look at how they put the full-court press on Bush last week, prodding him to answer whether he'd pardon Clinton.
Besides, instead of a speech, shouldn't Bill be helping his pal Alex Baldwin pack his stuff into a moving van? I do remember him saying something about leaving the U.S. if Bush was elected. |
