Dave, For MSFT, isn't # of CPU units shipped is what matters and not the ASP of CPUs

John, that's only true if the chips sold are in fact CPUs and will in fact be running Microsoft software. Given the recent PC slowdown, or as your own quote said, "flagging personal computer sales," I would guess that is not the case for any increased units shipped. Furthermore, the low-cost PCs that are actually selling now are less likely to run the Office software for which Microsoft is mysteriously still charging hundreds of dollars, so the net is that if Intel has sold more chips for less money, it is not good for Microsoft.
