MOBILCOM UMTS COOPERATION COULD COLLAPSE
(News agency Direkt) -- Ericsson`s cooperation with German Mobilcom could collapse, German weekly magazine Teleboerse wrote without citing any specific sources, according to AFX.

Ericsson was to deliver equipment to Mobilcom`s UMTS network, but according to the paper, Mobilcom chairman Gerhard Schmidt has pulled out of negotiations.

Ericsson made public in late October that the company had won an order from Mobilcom worth 1.6 billion euro up until 2003. The order was Ericsson largest ever systems order.

Alcatel is supposed to have offered better financial solutions, pressured by Mobilcom main owner France Telecom, according to the magazine.

On Tuesday Mobilcom announced that it is looking into cooperation with Nokia, Siemens and Alcatel, as well as with Ericsson.
