Sarmad,
<<Still we need to explain why there are no seagate desktop drives in the on-line shops.>>

I am not sure what you are seeing but Seagate has five very large authorized distributors in the US including Ingram Micro, Bell Microporducts, Synnex, Tech Data, and DSS. They have 43 independent distributors in Asia and another 75 or so in Europe. As far as I know they all have Seagate products available.

<<Anyway, despite the weakness in PC shipments, drive prices are firm ? How to explain ?>> I think a couple of things are going on. One is a very strong Enterprise market. The other is a component shortage, specifically some ASICS and heads, that may have impacted pricing and allowed some allocation which tends to firm pricing. I think it is a point-in-time phenomena and not a trend....yet. I also agree with you that the drive guys are getting better at managing inventories, with all of the public reporting companies showing significant improvements in turns over the last several quarters. Amazing what you can charge if you arent sitting on a worrisome inventory.

<<SEG is going to ship 12.5M+ drives this quarter. Their SCSI and Fiber channel are doing extremely well." Does that sound reasonable?>>

Seagate shipped 11.6 million drives in 2000,Q3 so 12.5 isnt too much of a stretch for 2000,Q4.

Best,
Stitch
