Ted,

re: "I guess we will have to wait and see what AMD and Sanders say.....see if that gives further/better insight into the market situation.....although in the past 6 mos, Sanders has not been very good at predicting future demand."

Nor has Intel been any good at forecasting demand. I'm taking it at face value, they don't really have visibility.

That $7billion in cap ex has to be a concern for AMD. It could the right or wrong move for Intel depending on how the processor market goes over the next two years, but it is bad news for AMD regardless of market conditions, worse if sales continue south.

My biggest concern for Intel is "other". They've invested $billions in shareholder profits, and that part of the business isn't performing. IAG is subsidizing continuing losses, and that's the area that's supposed to delink Intel from the semiconductor cycles, and provide future growth. If "other" was profitable you would see an entirely different financial report from Intel. Right now it's hurting shareholder value, not helping. I'm wondering how long the shareholders and the board allow that to continue.
