Hi Ken & all - I like the idea if NT can pick up the asset for a reasonable price. Getting 980MM laser source internally would help NT planning better. Also, although it is just a conjecture, it is always good to hear a company gathering asset only days before its earning release [since the flip side, selling asset just before earning release tends to be a bad omen!]

On a separate note, I think a lot of analysts have missed the crucial point. Optical networking may no longer be a nouveau buzz, it will be a dominant force for a long time to come. Not only it is vital for the backbone, but also it is strategic to the edge. Here is a doomsday scenario, in the 007 Golden Eye, the plot is that a nuclear device was set off in the upper atmosphere to generate a electromagnetic pulse to fry all the electronics. Well, a pure optical network [I know, the peripherals are still electronic in nature] has a better chance to withstand such a sci fi scenario attack. The point, light+software is more difficult to tamper. Just my non technical opinion :)

best, Bosco
