"Ariba implementations (because they are less heavy-duty) take only six months to install and show results". This has been the key to their success thus far -- quick hits. They do not even begin to offer the degree of mission critical applications of itwo -- that is why they will flame out. Switching costs are far, far lower for ARBA. They will not hold their customers as well as itwo and their customers will not pay a premium for software that is quickly becoming a commodity. Because ARBA cannot offer deep, mission critical scm applications, they have probably peaked -- and hence their fame and fortune with the "in-crowd" who wouldn't know the difference IMO. Good luck. Itwo will outperform arba 2:1 over time. The divergence will grow day by day.
