Remember the last semiconductor uptick, when Intel was running out of capacity, and this is essentially what saved AMD in Q4-1999? (This comment doesn't diminish AMD's execution during the year 2000.)

With Intel's large capex, I doubt Intel will be capacity constrained next time around. This added-capacity is definitely a threat to AMD (if the majority of the money is spent in the core). I would not risk holding AMD on the next semiconductor uptick (in a capacity tight environment).
