My biggest concern for Intel is "other". They've invested $billions in shareholder profits, and that part of the business isn't performing. IAG is subsidizing continuing losses, and that's the area that's supposed to delink Intel from the semiconductor cycles, and provide future growth. If "other" was profitable you would see an entirely different financial report from Intel. Right now it's hurting shareholder value, not helping. I'm wondering how long the shareholders and the board allow that to continue.

John,

You're right. I didn't want to say anything yesterday for fear of looking like I was jumping on Intel when it was down but I think their buy of XIRC is more of the same. XIRC started losing market share 2-4 quarters ago. That usually means that a company's product is no longer state of the art.

IMO, Intel needs to be buying the BRCDs and the JNPRs; companies that are state of the art now. If it were, the profits from that area would start to roll in quickly......like it does for CSCO.

But what you and I am are saying is not rocket science...so why doesn't Intel go for the more cutting edge companies?
