You have it backwards -- 63% of the public represented the anti-Bush vote in that election. Clinton was elected twice and neither time was it particularly close. And as much as it pains you guys to deal with this, he leaves office with much higher approval ratings than any President in US history (including your demi-god, Ronald Reagan). Had he been permitted to run for a third term, Clinton would have won by 5-10 Million votes -- and that takes into account the public's very conspicuous understanding of how deeply flawed a man Clinton is.

GOP policies are not popular -- well over 55% of the public does not like where the GOP stands on most issues. Were it not for tens of millions in soft money pumped into his campaign in October, Dubya would have lost several states he ended up winning (Tennessee, Ark., W. Va and N.H are 4) and with it the election.

Make no mistake about it -- this election was bought by Dubya - and when buying it didn't work, it was stolen by him. That reality will only achieve greater stature and resonance as time passes. And if he governs to the right, as he now appears likely to do, it will be a short lived experience for him and his rabid right wing supporters.
