VNCI Announces $1.2 Million Initial Purchase of Video Systems by Global Healthcare Products Company PORTSMOUTH, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 2001--
Video Network Enhances International Collaboration Among Senior
Executives and R&D Staff
Video Network Communications, Inc. (VNCI) (NASDAQ:VNCI - news), a leader in enterprise video networking, today released details of an initial order of $1.2 million for VNCI video systems by a Fortune 50 healthcare products company. Building on its success in clinical healthcare and military R&D applications, VNCI is providing a fully integrated solution that enables bi-directional, decision-quality video communications for R&D collaboration, executive communications and training at four US and three international customer sites.
Early collaboration among VNCI sales and engineering and the customer's senior management and IT staff, resulted in a plan that identified key individuals at each of the seven sites who required ongoing, face-to-face communication - and heavy travel - to move projects forward and make critical decisions. This ``due diligence'' resulted in a video network design at each site that delivers on-demand video communications to the desktops of these key contributors, so they can collaborate spontaneously across sites, either one-on-one or as a group.
Jack Semiao, Director of Healthcare Sales at VNCI, described the project: ``Our customer's IT/Operations Group had a clear agenda and strict criteria for this solution: find a user-friendly video system that would reduce travel by allowing researchers and executives to ''meet`` whenever they needed - without sacrificing visual quality or disrupting the data network. VNCI worked closely with end users and IT staff at each customer site to ensure our technology met their criteria for quality, reliability, and ease-of-use.''
Several of the business improvement criteria identified early in the project, such as acceleration of research cycles and knowledge transfer, are expected to show immediate results.
VNCI Vice President of Sales and Marketing Stephen LaMarche concluded: ``We are extremely encouraged by the efficiencies this customer will achieve using VNCI video networking systems. It's both exciting and enlightening to collaborate across disciplines in an environment like this and to realize that our technology is impacting not only the company, but also the recipients of their healthcare products and services around the world. VNCI's networking approach and specialized knowledge in this vertical market uniquely positions us to provide the superior quality and robust capacity that global healthcare organizations demand in a video solution.''
This customer order was originally disclosed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Form 8-K on December 7, 2000. At that time, the approximate size of the order was $1 million.
