Well, there are differences between them, of course, and I've no objection to your making pithy comments about them, particularly if the comments are intelligent and amusing, as yours are. It bothers me, though, that so many people fail to realize that there are also fairly considerable differences within those groups. They are a long way from monolithic, and the borders are distinctly blurred: those who consider themselves moderate conservatives will often find themselves branded "liberal" by more extreme conservatives, and moderate liberals are often accused of conservatism by the farther left set. On issues like globalization, we see extremists from both ends taking to the streets in the same cause.

It irritates me when people pretend these things are simple....
