Seconds,

My first reaction at today's NUAN and GM announcement was s...., we are hosed.

After thinking about the PR I changed my mind. It would make sense that GM would want to expand its voice recognition capabilities and go straight to the source. Not all speech technology will need a NOC. Besides, GM would want to ensure that the speech recognition supplied by NUAN be the best. Why go through GMGC?

Something I don't think I have ever seen is a PR from two companies that mentions a third company in a one liner (ie protect a third party/company). It seems as though there was a concerted effort by GM, NUAN and even possibly GMGC to ensure that everyone understood that GMGC would not be left holding the bag (GMGC would still host the technology at the NOC).

The question I have as always with GMGC is, "why?"

What does GM and NUAN have to gain to put that one liner in the PR?

Did GMGC insist that some mention of GMGC be placed in the PR (and why)?

If so then GMGC knows exactly what the hell is going on and is not being left in the dark IMO.

Take care.

Kurt
