Received 1st Qtr 1997 Report!! It largely reiterates the news release earlier mentioned on this thread. Here are the closing three paragraphs, followed by a clarifying paragraph on their dealings with the local natives and the Yukon Water Authority:

"Silver prices ... have remained subdued. The annual average silver price for 1996 was virtually unchanged from 1995 at about U$5.20, and prices have been under pressure for over a year now (largely led by a bearish sentiment for gold) and are at levels not seen since early 1995.

In the face of recurring deficits and dimishing inventories, however, price is the only element which can provide supply/demand balance in the market for silver and in the face of strong market fundamentals, the Corporation remains confident that silver prices will soon reflect the true state of the silver market.

The Corporation is now focussing on obtaining the operating authority of a water licence and securing the financing necessary to complete pre-production activities and return the Elsa Properties to commercial production of silver."

They also state earlier on in this report, under the heading: Operating Authority:

"Following a three year period of research and preparation and the July, 1996 filing of an appllication for a Class "A" production water licence and closure plan for the Elsa Properties, a positive Final Screening Report under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act was issued by the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development on March 26, 1997. The Yukon Territory Water Board held a public hearing into the application on April 9, 1997, and the Corporation now awaits the outcome of the Water Board's determination."

Bottom Line: It seems their submission to the Water Authority has been accepted by the Dept. of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, but they're still waiting for final approval from the Yukon Territory Water board.

Anyone have any thoughts how yesterday's elections may have impacted on all of this?? I think Yukon had only one seat, and it was filled by the NDP. Did they have this seat before?? Are they "friendly" to Keno's proposals?? RSVP
