This is why I started the LWP, to have a place for those who consider themselves "liberal" to explore their own viewpoints within the context of other liberals.

That's why I was a little worried about sitting down on the porch. I don't really think of myself as a liberal; possibly because my left friends always refer to me jokingly (I think) as the token capitalist pig. Of course "left" in the 3rd world has a different connotation than it does in America. Perception is such a curious thing: here, the "Western media" are universally accepted as being dominated by corporate interests and irretrievably right-wing; there the idea of "the liberal media" is an article of faith.

Perceptions of liberality and conservativeness depend largely on where we draw our center, and few of us draw it in the same place.
