Re: "This is far cry from Amy's statement "I expect AMD to fall further behind in technology" when the fact is that AMD used to be far behind and just caught up within last 6 months"

I will concede that AMD is in a much stronger position today that in recent memory, however they have some problems looming on the horizon. Their own .13 process has been pushed out by about a year. With P4 soon to be hitting 2GHz,as claimed by Intel, on .18u it is mind boggling what it will do on .13u. AMD will need .13u to catch Intel's .18u process in terms of performance. In addition their mysterious inability to develop SMP capability shuts them out of the high end. Can anyone come up with a theory as to why SMP just doesn't work for AMD? With the absolute ease with which Intel brought it up for the P6 generation, one has to wonder just what on earth is going on over there at AMD where they can't for the life of them get it to work. What do you suppose the problem is?
