it was bizarre, to say the least.

richard steele claims (and imo he has a technical point) that he does not look at the clock when he makes a decision to halt a bout. he has a bell that ends the round, so no need to watch the clock, and with 10 seconds left there's a preliminary signal that the round is about to end.

so, technically, he doesn't have to be cognizant of how much time is left. he can be purely focused on the fighter's welfare.

but having said all that, it's bullcrap for him to maintain that he did not pay attention to how much time was remaining. had he not heard the 10 second warning? you see? he really did know. and he stopped that fight with 2 seconds remaining with taylor on his feet and way ahead on points.

my opinion? there had to be a fix in. nobody else on the planet stops that fight.
