At last months Palm Developers Conf, Palm confirmed long standing rumors that its next generation systems will use ARM processors instead of MOT 68000 based chips. MOT announced, in turn that it will produce ARM based chips (licensed) for Palm....

...The bigger issue , for Motorola MCore and other CPU platforms, is that ARM is dominating the mobile market. ARM cores are already used in more than 70% of all cell phones. Within a few years, ARM will be in most PDAs using Palm OS, Symbian OS or Windows CE OS. As cell phones and PDAs merge, ARM will be the CPU of choice.
