That's true. But, first, he got caught fair and square so he didn't have many choices. Second, he is a minister, whether he acts like one or not, and if he didn't take it on the chin he would have real long-term problems down the road.
Wonder how long this self-imposed exile will last. A day? three days? He can't keep his mouth shut any longer than that.
BTW, I wonder whether the child support he paid was paid under a court order. If not, and I doubt there was any court order, haven't heard of one, I don't think the IRS accepts it as child support (anybody a tax lawyer here). In that case, would it be income to the Mom, in which case she should be reporting it (bet she didn't!), or would it be a gift, in which case it would exceed the $10,000 per year per donor/donee limit, and he should have been filing gift tax returns.
Wonder whether someone more attuned to the great right wing conspiracy should raise these issues with the IRS? Can't you get some money for turning in somebody who is cheating on their taxes? |
