You have to remember that slavery was "interpreted" to be legal under this very same Constitution.

It was legal under the constitution. Fortunately that injustice was changed by the amendment process. I am not against the constitution being changed if and when it is wrong I just think the government should not ignore what it says.

Internment of Japanese.

And of other people in other times. Its usually supported as being part of a special emergancy which is so bad that constitutional rights have to be suspended. Another example of what I am arguing against.

Syphilis tests on blacks.

Forced tests of this sort would be against the constitution (at least after 13th and 14th ammendments).

all Constitutional at one time or another. Laws (as bodies of words) have ALWAYS been subject to interpretation. It will never stop.

Words do have actual meanings (even if the use of language can in some clases be unclear). I agree that twisting the law (or governments flat out acting against their own laws) has happened as long as their has been governments and probably always will. I do however seek to minimize its occurance to the greatest extent possible and I critizize the government acting illegally even when it is not specifically abusive or an atrocity.
