That is certainly true.

However, when I was a girl scout, the leaders of our troop were all female. My (derisory) troop never went on any field trips or camping trips, we just bought uniforms and paid dues and ran around playing hide and seek in a big, dark church while the troop leaders drank coffee and chatted! But I feel sure that if we had taken trips, the adults who accompanied us would have been female only.

IMO, it would have been unwise to invite males into that situation, either simply to hang out in the dark church with a bunch of young girls, or to take them on overnight trips.
