I suspect that it is possible that there have been more than one printer installed on the box.

Go to Printer on Control board and delete all printers ...
then install the HP II using the reccoed driver from the HP website ==> hp.com

It is a possibility that there exists now a backlog of instruction to the printer so that will need to be deleted ....

also, you could have plugged the printer into an incorrect port ....
the path must be the one the machine uses ... LPT1 or COM1 or whatever ....
check that also ...
