I think it will backfire, Carolyn. Most weak people flee from disruption of their cozy havens when the protector are getting shot at. I can see the public turning to a more conservative mindset when they realize they might as well get closer to the winning team. Fear of being uncomfortable is a great motivator for mind changes.
