In case you wonder, there's a documentary film regarding the origin of the Nazi cult. The story began with how Hitler rose in power in the '30s, and how he established the cult with the belief that their superior race was coming from the people of Atlantis, who were believed to have castastrophic disaster in their homeland somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. Hitler also believed that the Atlantis people had wandered across much of the European continent and into Asia (Of course, he didn't believe the wandering group could settle anywhere in Europe, since he wanted to rule the whole of it). He believed they settled in the area of Tibet. As a results, he sent a handful of German expedition team to that area, and the whole journey was captured into the documentary film by the Nazi. As they arrived in Tibet, there were handshakes and huggings, as if old friends met with each other. Of course, the Tibetans had absolutely no idea of what the hell was going on. The Tibetans welcomed in hospitality the Nazists, who were nothing more than a group of racists. But, the funny thing was the expedition team began to use some sorts of measuring devices to measure the dimensions and lengths of the Tibetan skulls, teeth, tongues, so on and so forth...They marked the measurement down, and used them to compare with their own. After the team came back to Hitler, Hitler discovered something out of the Tibetans - one of the Tibetan symbol (and also it is one of the old ancient Chinese character). Hitler tilted the character in 45 degree angle, and used it as the Nazi swastika symbol. As a matter of facts, before watching this documentary film, I had been suspicious about any link between the Nazi swastika symbol and that Chinese character, since they have striking similarities, except the ways to put them. Well, this documentary film had proved it, and I was stunned that there's indeed a link between them. Afterall, the point I want to bring is .... if the PRC govt is aware of this story, they have a reason to be worried, since the Atlantis legend is well-rooted in the Western civilization. And if people believe there's a link between the Tibetan religion and that part of the world, the Tibetan religion could turn itself into one of the powerful religions in the world. Sounds ridiculous, but I think the PRC govt is so paranoid about it, since this relationship could undermine their interests and could possibly threaten them.
