where is the leadership

When the going gets tough the tough get going...hmmm. It looks like we don't have any tough out here in California. A bunch of wimps with heads in the sand. No leader has yet surfaced. One would think the issue would default to the governor when no one else rises to the task. Shell shock, denial, incompetence?

It surprised me to see how well the governor faired in the who's at fault poll. Well maybe he didn't create the problem but it sure as h#$l is his problem to fix. Sooner or later he'll have to take some heat. A few more days of blackouts and hopefully someone will try to wake him up. Maybe he will get the picture when gas lines come..maybe when an airport shuts down? The PUC didn't authorize juice to pump trunkline gas?? what a joke. Wouldn't want to inconvenience the public and have them turn off a couple of light bulbs and lower a thermostat but gasoline shortages are ok. People don't have to go to work if the power's off so I guess they don't need gas ;o)

Constructing new power plants in CA won't do a thing for the immediate crisis. Some serious conservation coupled with a utility fix is the only thing that will work in the short term IMO. The governor buried a few comments about conservation in his state of the state address. Not many watched the address or they didn't pay attention. A concerted conservation effort would solve the near term crisis but it takes competent leaders and there doesn't seem to be any out here.
