re: doing your QCOM thing with AMAT:

That wouldn't be too bad. I ended up with an average cost basis of 68 in QCOM. What would hurt is doing my WCOM thing again............

If you've held through the 2000, 1998, and 1996 downturns, then let me pin the "Cast-Iron-Stomach" award on your chest. You are a TrueBeliever. I am a SemiCyleTimer usually, and currently dabble in ShortTermRangeTrading. I have not yet descended to the 7th circle of hell (day-trading). Many different rainbows lead to pots of gold.

If INTC leads us into the next tech transition in semiland, it will be the last one they lead.

So, any guesses (or don't you care, because you know it will eventually happen) on when the downturn in bookings bottoms? Mid or late 2001?
