However, as Bruce pointed out, with the SDLI merger about to go though, we are seeing some movement. Since I am all SDLI to take advantage of the premium on the merger, I look forward to the merger with high hopes.

One has to keep in mind that there will be massive carnage in the optical start up space going forward - both in components and in networking. A vast percentage of the companies will not and cannot make it. The stronger will only get stronger amidst the carnage. Yet, it is early in the cycle. JDS Uniphase is in the heart of the optical/electrical convergence cycle. Certainly nice to see JDS Uniphase tack on $6 points yesterday and an additional $4 in after hours trading where it closed at $64. SDL closed at $233 and change in AH after finishing the day at $220. Of course, most of AH closing prices were higher throughout technology.

I've not been too happy with some calls out of Robertson Stephens as of late. Here is an article that 'attacks' the broad brush IT downgrade that Robertson Stephens laid on the market not too long ago. It is written in specific regards to the data storgage/transfer industry:

is.pennnet.com

Emulex had an important quarterly report that if one connects the dots through SAN and NAS land, confirmation of The Enterprise Storage Group report might be more solid than the Robbie Stephens broad brush IT downgrade.
