John, Sorry if any of my comments were excessively critical of Bluetooth. I think the potential is there. Bluetooth could be disruptive to removable storage, but it is not a replacement of or an alternative to storage for mobile applications. In that sense I don't think disruptive is an appropriate description. As far as I can see removable storage is a deeply engrained concept for consumers. I think it will take some time to dissolve the strength of the end-user bond with removable media. I am not saying it won't happen, just that the alternative will need to be very compelling. Jeff Hawkins was interviewed recently and he has strong opinions as to the importance of ease-of-use in consumer electronics. As one of the co-founders of PALM I think his comments are valuable and insightful. usnews.com Until Bluetooth hits the mainstream it will be difficult to predict consumer acceptance. Also, since the PC will likely remain a "base station" in the Bluetooth paradigm there will need to be an incentive for people to upgrade their PC's. Many may not wish to tinker with something inside their box and others may not wish to upgrade their systems for the sole purpose of experimenting with Bluetooth until its merits and cost-effectiveness are clearly demonstrated.
