What does it matter if you marry your neighbor or a street person to save a buck?
That seems a strange reason to deny it to people who really love each other and want to express that in the same way heterosexual couples do.

Marriage only means what you think it means. Some heterosexual people discard their spouses like kleenex- they clearly don't think much of marriage. But we aren't going to disallow heterosexual marriage just because lots of heterosexual people treat it cavalierly. Some heterosexual people marry Americans just to get legal status here- sometimes their heterosexual partner knows, sometimes they don't. I know someone who had this happen to her- she was married by someone who just wanted to become a citizen. Do we disallow marriage between Americans and non-Americans because some people will take advantage? No.

Just my opinion.
