Michael...that would make Ampex an aspiring arms dealer to the density war that seems to be brewing in the disk drive industry. Curious thing about MR economics....higher capacity per platter = lower cost per megabyte = lower cost per disk drive = lower ASPs = larger market share = higher margins..... ....and how MR+KM amplifies that dynamic effect....at nominal cost, even higher capacity per platter = even lower cost per megabyte = even lower cost per disk drive = even lower ASPs = even larger market share = even higher margins...... BTW, Ampex is scheduled to present on June 5, 1997 at the Dataquest Storagetrack conference. Gus
