Pulling the Plug on California
If you have been following the news, then you have been hearing about the energy crisis we are experiencing here in California. At the heart of the problem is California’s two major electricity companies, Edison and PG&E, both teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, unable to pay their vendors, making it difficult to purchase the power needed to run the state.
The politicians have yet been unable to agree on a solution...many people oppose a state or federal bailout and consumers are continuing to be left in the dark....literally.
While on the subject of pulling the plug, we heard from a company last week called denmans.com, Inc., which was famous for being named to Forbes Magazine’s Best 300 Sites of the Web last September 25th. The CFO of the online jewelry retailer told Emerging Company Report last week about management’s bright outlook for the company’s future.
That was last week. On Tuesday, the company released news saying they were closing the web site, terminating their business operations and laying off their employees.
To quote, “Despite the Company's accomplishments and acclimations to date, it is unable to obtain additional funding to enable it to continue operations.”
This week on Emerging Company Report;
